Myles Sanderson was the only killer in Canada mass stabbings, and his brother was a victim, police say.
But that wasn’t enough to prevent 20 people from being killed by an illegal immigrant, who killed three people with his car after a failed carjacking.

Mason James Scott, who is from the UK, was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of 20 people, after killing three people with his car.
The victims of the July 2018 incident ranged in age from 50 to 78 and included six women, three men and children, police told CBC News.
Scott killed three women and one man, but police did not disclose the motive for the violent crime because they considered it a homicide investigation, CBC News reported.
Scott told police he “lost control,” at approximately 9:40 p.m. on July 29, 2018, and shot his victims, who were in the vehicle, with a 9mm handgun, Toronto Police told the newspaper.
“We have not been able to find a motive for this,” police told the newspaper.
Scott pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and was remanded in custody.

In his court hearing, Scott claimed he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he killed two of the victims.
“The defendant was known to the Crown for possession of heroin, cocaine and cocaine possession, and for possession of firearms,” the court heard.
Scott was arrested on Sept. 16, 2019, while he was visiting friends in London.
A day after his arrest, the U.K. Foreign Office confirmed Scott had entered the country illegally, according to the Guardian.
Scott has since pleaded guilty
