    Description

I have to say right at the outset that this is indeed a fine sounding piece from one of the few companies that managed to put out a respectable sounding eq. While I'm usually not a huge fan of equalizers in general, I will add that a good one can prove to be an invaluable tool for helping the sound of less than great recordings or acoustic problems in the listening space. ADC was a pioneer in the area of equalizers and with this top end model, they far exceeded their reputation for providing fine sound quality while performing this corrective task. Indeed, the SS-315 has gained a reputation as on of the best sounding models this company made and I have to say that this has proven itself to be one of the most transparent eq's that I've heard. Ultimately this unit is able to simply get out of the way and let the music come through without messing up the sound or adding additional distortion.
Of course, what makes this unit all the more special is that fact that it has a built in ten band real time spectrum analyzer, pink noise generator, AND a mic input which can be set to feed the display. Bottom line is that if you add a calibration mic, you can proceed to take real time room response measurements which can be used to set up flat room response. In all, this results in an eq that proves to be highly useful for making meaningful real world adjustments, whether compensating for deficient source material or room/speaker acoustics!
I should add that the fine looks also serve to make this item a pleasure to behold. The pictures will certainly give you an idea with its brushed black aluminum faceplate sleek styling, but it really only hints at how nice this actually looks. Of course it doesn't hurt that this is also in perfect condition operationally while being about as close to mint as you'll find cosmetically. Ultimately, you'd be hard pressed to tell this from new! In terms of features, the inclusion of a subsonic filter does wonders for taming the power robbing and muddying effects of record warps with vinyl sources while other features include pushbuttons for pink noise, mic or line input for the display. There are also controls for 2 tape monitor loops with dubbing in either direction, two processor loops, not to mention an assortment of controls for the display.
In short, I would have to say that this is about the most full featured EQ's I've ever encountered! Bottom line is that if you're looking for a top quality equalizer that has the capability of making truly meaningful measurements and adjustments, you really can't go wrong with this one. Buyer pays actual shipping. Don't miss out!
